Stage 7. A 57.1 mile stage of the Blue Ridge Parkway starting at US Highway 220 south of Roanoke, VA and ending at US Highway 501 at the James River Bridge. This stage includes the climb up Apple Orchard Mountain (4,229 ft), the highest point on the Parkway in Virginia, and the descent to the lowest point on the Parkway (670 ft) at the bridge over the James River. There are approximately 19.7 miles of climbing and 4,721 feet of elevation gained during this stage.
